For seafood, bouchot mussels and Marennes-Oléron oysters are much appreciated by connoisseurs, as are fish and crustaceans. Much praise is given to potatoes from the Ile de Ré, Surgères butter, cheese, mojhettes (beans) and cagouilles (snails).
